Raphi Bloom's UJIA North to South Bike Ride 2017
Having not ridden a bike "in anger" for around 8 years I will be cycling the full length of Israel (over 500km from Metula on the Lebanese border to Eilat on the shores of the Red Sea) in 5 days in May to raise money for 2 fantastic causes.
The first is the Carmiel Children's Village in the Galillee in Northern Israel, which is one of UJIA's supported projects.
I personally visited there in November 2016 and was both inspired and humbled. The village is home to over 200 children who cannot live with their parents for a variety of reasons ranging from being orphaned to their parents being too unwell to look after them or even being in prison.
The love and care these children receive from their "house parents", who selflessly look after them alongside, in many cases, their own children is truly amazing and means that most of the children who are at Carmiel go on to achieve much in life, serve in the IDF, study and contribute to society in Israel. Carmiel gives these children real life chances.

The second is A Smile for Orly, (www.asmilefororly.com) a Manchester based charity in memory of Orly Feddy which provides services and support to local children’s activities such as Francis House Children's Hospice, the Fed, the Royal Manchester Children's Hospital and others.
Any support you can give will be very much appreciated and will make a big difference to the work of both charities we are raising money for.
